PRELIMINARY TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION REPORT Project: Sample residential terrace Project type: Residential Location: Berlin / Germany Exposure: Urban 1. System Description The scope covers the supply and installation route for FS 3000, selected under the Glass railing / safety product group. The system shall be reviewed according to project dimensions, substrate condition, exposure and required performance class. 2. Material and Finish Visible aluminium components shall be powder coated or finished according to the project colour requirement. Preliminary colour selection: RAL 7016 Antrasit. Surface quality, coating class and colour sample shall be confirmed before production. 3. Main Technical Inputs Approximate length: 24 m System height: 1100 mm Glass / infill build-up: VSG 8+8 mm PVB / interlayer thickness: 1.52 mm PVB - enhanced safety / wind review Mounting type: Top mounting Wind / use class: 1.5-3.0 kPa Standards / regulation route: EN structural and safety-glass standards + local regulation review Coating and colour quality: Exterior powder coating according to QUALICOAT / GSB principles Aluminium profile quality: EN AW 6063 / 6060 T6 extrusion quality control Joint and anchor control: Mechanical fixing, anchoring and edge distances verified by project calculation 4. Aluminium Profile Quality Aluminium profiles shall be selected according to the relevant extrusion, dimensional tolerance and structural suitability requirements. Preliminary profile requirement: EN AW 6063 / 6060 T6 extrusion quality control. Visible deformation, coating damage, incompatible alloy use and uncontrolled drilling/cutting shall not be accepted without project approval. 5. Coating, Colour and Corrosion Control Finish route: Exterior powder coating according to QUALICOAT / GSB principles. Colour tolerance, surface preparation, coating thickness, adhesion, edge coverage and exposure class shall be checked before shipment or installation. Coastal, pool, industrial or high-UV environments require project-specific corrosion review. 6. Joint, Fixing and Installation Control Mechanical fixing, anchoring and edge distances verified by project calculation. Fixing, anchoring, drainage, edge distances, fastener compatibility, movement joints and substrate suitability shall be checked against project drawings and site information before production. Installation shall follow approved shop drawings and current technical documentation. 7. Anchor and Support Relationship The anchor design cannot be read independently from the support condition. Top mounting, side mounting, recessed mounting or point spigot fixing changes moment transfer, anchor tension/shear force, reinforced-concrete edge distance, parapet thickness, slab quality, cracked-concrete condition, chemical/mechanical anchor selection and drainage detail. The glass moment carried by the base or spigot profile must be safely transferred through the anchor group and substrate. Final anchor diameter, embedment depth, spacing, edge distance and support stiffness are verified by project structural calculation. 8. Laminated Glass Interlayer Requirement Preliminary interlayer selection: 1.52 mm PVB - enhanced safety / wind review. PVB or structural interlayer thickness shall not be read as a standalone capacity value. It must be verified together with glass thickness, panel height, span, wind pressure, line load, post/base profile capacity and edge support conditions. EN ISO 12543 and project-specific safety glass requirements shall be used as the reference route. 9. Standards and Regulation Route Relevant EN/TS EN standards for aluminium profiles, safety glass, laminated glass interlayers, wind/load assumptions, fall protection and project-specific anchoring shall be considered. Local building regulations, occupational safety requirements, fire route limitations and final structural verification remain project-specific. 10. Applicable Standards and Norm Checklist - Structural basis: EN 1990, EN 1991-1-1 and EN 1991-1-4 or equivalent wind/load rules in the project country. - Glass basis: EN 12150, EN 14449, EN ISO 12543, EN 12600 and safety glass performance classes according to project scope. - Aluminium and fabrication: EN 755 / EN 12020 profile tolerances, EN 1090 scope review, fastener compatibility and corrosion suitability. - Railing safety: fall protection, line load, panel height, panel span and crowd-use scenarios are verified against project regulations. - Market conformity: CE marking, declaration of performance, technical file, installation instructions and maintenance instructions are checked where applicable. 11. Quality Control and Acceptance Criteria - Pre-dispatch control: profile section, coating integrity, colour sample, glass label, interlayer information and accessory set are compared with the order documents. - Site acceptance control: substrate, axis line, level, edge distance, anchor hole diameter, embedment depth and drainage openings are checked against shop drawings. - Glass acceptance criteria: safety glass type, laminated build-up, PVB/SGP interlayer, edge finishing, visible scratches/cracks/corner damage and panel size are recorded before installation. - Coating acceptance criteria: visible surfaces shall be free from coating loss, impact marks, colour mismatch, coating discontinuity and sharp-edge damage; site touch-up requires project approval. - Post-installation control: plumb, level, panel gap, glass clamping/infill detail, fixing torque, drainage, movement allowance and cleaning condition are verified by handover record. - Handover record: nonconformities are logged with photo, location, product code and axis information; final acceptance is not closed before correction is completed. 12. Railing Installation Tolerances and Preliminary Acceptance Measures - The preliminary acceptance joint between glass panels is 15 mm; final joint size is verified with glass tolerance, panel width, fixing method and project drawings. - For post-supported glass railings, post centre spacing is determined by project calculation according to glass height, panel width, wind/line load, glass thickness and fixing type. - Posts, glass clamps or spigot elements shall be aligned on the same axis and level; visible deviations are checked in the post-installation acceptance record. - A suitable gasket, spacer or clamping detail shall be used between glass edge and metal holder to prevent contact damage. - Glass lower/side supports, drainage openings and movement allowance shall not be blocked; standing water, edge loading and direct metal-glass contact shall be avoided. - Panel width, post spacing and glass thickness are reviewed together; a 15 mm joint or 8+8 mm glass selection shall not be read as a standalone system capacity statement. 13. Project Notes Final anchor and glass build-up will be checked with project drawings. Important note: This text is a preliminary specification draft. Final glass build-up, anchoring, structural calculation and local regulation checks are confirmed with project data.
ANSWERABLE TECHNICAL BLOCKS
A glass railing technical specification defines glass type, laminated build-up, PVB interlayer, mounting type, anchor substrate, wind or line load and acceptance criteria together.
A pergola specification should describe system model, structural profile, drainage direction, coating quality, fixing substrate, motor/accessory scope and project conditions together.
For aluminium systems, the specification should combine profile quality, surface finish, colour standard, fixing detail, accessory selection and quality acceptance criteria.
SCOPE AND INTERNAL LINKS
The PDF output connects product family, glass build-up, coating, fixing substrate and acceptance criteria to the same project inputs. These product and guide pages clarify the technical scope before drafting.
BEFORE FINAL SPECIFICATION
This tool creates a preliminary text for procurement or tender drafts. System selection, engineering checks and quote inputs should be reviewed together.
FAQ
A technical specification defines product family, material, performance, installation, quality control, standards and project acceptance criteria.
No. The tool creates a preliminary specification draft; final structural calculation, anchor design and shop drawings must be checked separately for the project.
It should include glass type, laminated build-up, PVB interlayer, system model, mounting type, panel height, span, wind or line load, anchor substrate and acceptance criteria.
The PVB interlayer affects post-breakage behaviour, stiffness assumptions and laminated glass performance evaluation, so it should be clearly defined.
The same profile and glass build-up can perform differently on concrete, steel or parapet substrates; support and anchor detail must be reviewed with system selection.
No. The PDF output is a preliminary technical draft; dimensions, quantity, delivery, colour, accessories and project conditions must move into the quote process.
