This tool gives a first route for railing type selection; the final choice is confirmed by glass build-up, fixing type, panel size and anchor calculation.
The French Balcony (Juliet Balcony) is a flush-mounted railing for floor-to-ceiling windows and balcony doors that do not have a projecting balcony slab. The railing mounts directly to the window frame or facade, providing fall protection with minimal visual obstruction.
Two infill options: frameless glass (2×6mm ESG+PVB (13.52mm), maximum transparency) and aluminium bars (vertical, ≤100 mm spacing for child safety). Railing depth: 50 mm from facade face — the minimum profile that still allows window opening without obstruction.
Mounting: through-frame fixing (screws into the window profile) or facade fixing (chemical anchors into masonry/concrete). No drilling into the window sill required with facade-mount brackets.
Compliant with EN 1991-1-1 (0.5 kN/m residential horizontal load) and DIN 18065 (German building regulations). Maximum width: 2,400 mm continuous. Standard height: 1,100 mm (adjustable 900–1,200 mm).
